Head of High-Performance Computing Research Department

Colfax International seeks an experienced computer and information research scientist to provide guidance to a team that conducts programs for research, education, consulting, and software development in the department domain of expertise. This domain includes scientific computing, data analytics, data visualization, machine learning, cloud computing, and similar areas.

Job Duties:

  • Research programs: study the application of modern computer technologies (processors, accelerators, interconnects and storage) to the outstanding problems in science and engineering. Research projects must result in white papers, peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations of value to the HPC community;
  • Educational projects: deliver the original knowledge derived from research activities to experts in computational disciplines. These projects result in the creation and delivery of on-site training, webinars, online courses and educational materials of interest to the HPC community;
  • Consulting assignment: help the company's customers to design or improve their software systems and computing platforms to take advantage of modern computing technologies. These assignments result in the delivery of optimized software to the customer;
  • Software development tasks: includes the creation of original libraries, tools, Internet-based services, and process automation software for workstation, cluster and cloud computing. These projects result in the production and utilization of proprietary or open-source software tools to serve the company's business objectives. In addition, the Head of the HPC research department is expected to contribute practical work to the ongoing projects, supervise and educate the department members, and to seek new opportunities for research, education, consulting and software development.

Experience:

  • Knowledge of the C++ and Fortran languages in the context of scientific computing;
  • Expertise with parallel programming frameworks, including OpenMP (Open Multi-Processing) and MPI (Message Passing Interface);
  • Development and performance optimization of computational applications on modern parallel processor architectures, including Intel Xeon and Intel Xeon Phi processor families;
  • An established publication track record is required including at least five peer-reviewed publications in computer science, computational physics, computational chemistry, or related fields;
  • Successful candidates will have at least one year of teaching experience. At least three years of experience in scientific software development is required.

Minimum Requirements:
PhD in Computer Science or a related field and 3 years of progressive experience.

System Administrator for Cloud and Cluster Infrastructure

Colfax International is growing its research team by opening a full-time position of System Administrator for Cloud and Cluster Infrastructure based in Sunnyvale, California, USA. We are looking for an IT professional with strong skills in Linux server management, process automation, cluster and cloud infrastructure deployment and maintenance. This System Administrator will help us to create and maintain unique computing services in support of our research, education and consulting on modern computing technologies.

As a System Administrator, you will configure and deploy into production a variety of servers, clusters and clouds that will be used by customers of Colfax’s business and educational programs. You will implement automation procedures for: integrating these systems with user-facing business services; maintenance and error reporting; and security control. The computing hardware at your disposal will include modern servers with innovative technologies, such as computing accelerators, specialized processors, high-performance interconnects and storage products. Your level of participation in the creative process will range from making decisions on the architecture of the systems to configuring third-party software and creating custom scripts for process automation. You will be responsible for documenting the deployed services, responding to failures and training others in the support and configuration of your systems.
